Renowned writer of the Baahubali saga, Vijayendra Prasad’s latest directorial Srivalli is all set to release this Friday. Speaking about the film’s motivation and his big announcements, Vijayendra Prasad preceded the following the interview…

Tell us about the story of Srivalli

I had a friend named Ramesh. I never met him after I settled down in Hyderabad. I used to recall Ramesh once in a while but on the day before 2010 Vinayaka Chaturthi, I thought of him intensely. After 2 years, I went to Vizag looking for him and traced his address. His mother told me that Ramesh died 2 years ago on the day before Vinayaka Chaturthi and that he was seeking to see me. How did we both think of the same thing while in pain? Did our ideas swap places? Out of this revelation, the story for Srivalli was born.

What’s the theme of the story?

A man’s thoughts are brown from his soul. If you can trace these feelings you can eliminate the bad and unwanted ones. Srivaalli is the name of the mission that tries to accomplish this theory.

Why was the film delayed?

The film had to be postponed because of the CG work involved

What is the best compliment you’ve received so far?

I showed the film to Parchuri Gopala Krishna and asked him to pause it if he sees any twist coming. He didn’t even pause the film once and said that every twist was unexpected. This is so far the biggest compliment in my career

Your stories have a good reputation. Does this film measure up to it?

The audience who expect a fresh story from me shall not be disappointed

Tell us about your next writing project Manikarnika

The producers of Manikarnika approached me to develop the story. I said I would only write if Krish is directing as I saw him fit. After Gautami Putra Satakarni, The makers have agreed to bank on Krish and further proceedings are on.

Are you writing a sequel for Nayak (Anil Kapoor)in Hindi?

Yes.True. Also, during Mersal audio launch, A.R.Rahman approached me, asking to develop a story out of his one liner.

What are your next projects?

I’m going to direct a Telugu and a Hindi film for which I’ll announce the details this Dussehra
