Interview with Hanu Ragahavapudi about Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha

Hanu Raghavapudi, the director of Andhaala Raakshasi is waiting eagerly for the release of his second film Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha.  This Nani starrer is all set to be released on 12th of February. On this note, Hanu has met the media to share his feelings.

Reason behind the long break?
Andhaala Rakshasi was released in 2012. Then I’ve penned an action love story which eventually didn’t work out. Later I’ve written Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha which took this long to get done.

Was Nani your first choice for Andhaala Raakshasi?
Yes, I’ve narrated Andhaala Raakshasi and another script to Nani at first. But for some reasons, he’s not convinced. So I couldn’t direct him for my first feature film. Later, I’ve written this story and he loved it in the first discussion itself. 

What’s the story all about?
Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha is a wholesome entertainer which deals with an intense love story between Krishna and Mahalaksmi. The core element shown in this film hasn’t been attempted since 20 years in any of the Telugu films.

About Nani’s performance!
You don’t find Nani in the film. He immersed himself in the character of Krishna. Adding to this, Mohreen delivered a decent performance. Though she’s not a Telugu girl, she spoke her dialogues well. The three kids, Maini, Moksha, and Sri Padham acted well. Shooting in a live location is a herculean task and we’ve faced many challenges every day.

What about the Title, Jai Balayya?
In this film, Krishna is a huge fan of Balayya. So, many people thought the title would be Jai Balyya. But we never thought of it. In this film the faction element acts as a foundation though it’s not evident. We’ve shown the people and their lifestyles from the Rayalaseema area. I make sure I do the work I enjoy the most. Getting a success is an additional benefit.

Reason behind choosing others over Rathan for composing music? 
There are no specific reasons behind not choosing Rathan. I wanted to have a change and opted for Vishal Chandrasekhar. I have no issues with Rathan and I might work with him for my next film.

Your next projects?
I’m working on script called Kavacham. I’m not sure about the protagonist as yet. I’ll reveal the details soon.
