‘I only care about the character’ - Arjun

Hanu Raghavapudi’s LIE has been putting up a good show in its first week and the crew celebrated a success meet to thank the audience. Action King Arjun played the antagonist in the film and stood out as a dapper bad guy on the screen.The actor revealed his true love for playing characters in the interview below

Why did you choose a negative role?

It’s kind of exhausting to play only lead roles after 150 films. I feel this is the right time to try as many different roles as I can in a year.

This is your second collar with Nithiin right?

Yes, I worked with him in Sri Anjaneyam earlier and known him as a hard worker. His dedication towards a film is still as strong as ever.

Would you be doing similar roles further?

Cinema has changed a lot. Unlike Hollywood, Where a good character comes with no tags of image and star status, We still strive for an image. Since I’m a producer and Director, I break all the stereotypes.

Would you be entering politics?

You need a lot of brains to be either a good or bad politician. I don’t have that kind of intellect. It’s naive to enter politics just because you have a good fandom as a star. Besides, It’s not necessary to be in politics to do good.

What inspired you the most to play this role?

When director narrated the story, I felt my character has got a lot of scope for acting. Every scene felt new so I decided to play the role.

Which film are you directing?

I’m Directing a film with my daughter Aishwarya as the lead. It’s my responsibility to promote my daughter and I ruled off all the arguments which said otherwise. I’ve been in the Industry for 35 years and if I don’t trust my associates, Who will?
