Madras Talkies presents “Cheliya” starring Karthi & Aditi Rao directed by Mani Ratnam under Sri Venkateswara Creations.

In Karthi's words...

"Cheliya" is a special movie as my career has started as Assistant Director of Mani Ratnam for 2 years. As an actor, its been 10 years. The film is a love story between a fighter pilot and doctor with Srinagar backdrop."

Can you brief about your role?

I play a different character till now. I took pilot training and equipped myself with the related information. Then, I got confidence in character."Cheliya" is a love story between two strong characters. Fighter pilot is a risky profession but the story begins as he meets a lady Doctor, who comes to pursue job in Srinagar and fall in love. It’s a complete relationship based movie.

How was the experience on location?

Most of the movie was shot in Srinagar at -4 and -15 temperature. 2-3 scenes were shot at one day and in 50 -60 days, shooting was completed. Its my first film as hero in Mani Ratnam direction. He gives an opportunity to discuss and hence the interesting creative process has generated. He’ll give suggestions & advices.

How was working experience with Mani Ratnam?

It’s challenging. To write the scenes between a pilot and Doctor is difficult and to act also.It took time for me to understand the character first but it is fascinating to perform.

Any preparations for your role?

I’m a movie fan and ill think I have to watch like a fan. Similarly, while listening to story I think I should like. New experience will be challenging. For “Kaashmora” I’m trained in horse racing and fencing. Now took pilot training.I want to do something that attracts audience.

How was your reaction after listening to story?

I remembered “Surya S/O Krishnan” film. I did regular workout and stayed on a liquid diet. A.R.Rahman has composed classic music of 90's times and the songs roll back to" Roja" film. I feel, im lucky from all corners working in this movie
