Nara Rohit’s out and out commercial entertainer ‘Balakrishnudu’ is releasing today and the director Pawan Mallela spoke to the press about his experiences with the debut film and other titbits behind the camera…
What’s your origin story?
I was born in Vijayawada and did my engineering from Chennai. I’ve done my film school graduation from Australia and chose to make films because this art-form knows no bounds.
Are you tensed about the film’s release?
Yes. Since this is my first film and my friends are producing it, I feel a bit tensed. But all of us are confident about the film’s output.
Why is your debut film a commercial one?
I actually had a love story in mind and traveled with it for 4 years. Since things weren’t progressing, I chose to make a commercial flick.
What’s the main story of Balakrishnudu?
The film is based in an action backdrop. The story begins in 2006. The heroine’s aunt sends her off to Hyderabad. Hero meets the girl in Hyderabad and embarks on a journey to the girl’s native place. The story happens in a day’s length and feels like a road journey.
What’s the interesting point in the film?
The film is an out and out entertainer with loads of fun. The story begins at a point and ends at another. Everybody watching the film, will laugh their guts out and the songs are entertaining too.
What’s Regina’s character in the film?
This is the third film between Regina and Nara Rohit. The romantic track between them is entertaining and Ramya Krishna is also playing a major role in the film. She’s a major asset for the film.
What’s your next project?
It depends on this film’s result.
