Vijay’s stardom is on another level in this film and that has been captured superbly by director Atlee. He showcases Vijay in two different roles and the star hero does supremely well in all departments.

One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is a storyline which is quite old. The film is a rehash of several sports drama’s in the past and has been added a lot of mass and commercial angles to make the film relatable.

On the whole, Whistle is an emotional sports drama that will surely click with the Tamil audience as it has relatable emotions, Vijay’s star-studded screen presence, and all the needed mass elements.

Whistle hopefully heralds a sign of things to come, a time where the star gets to have their big moment on-screen without compromising on the storytelling. Especially if said star is a mass hero.

Atlee struggles a bit in Whistle to balance the mass elements with all the drama, but the film manages to get more sure-footed as it progresses, turning out to be an engaging entertainer.

Whistle employs all the sports movie tropes – a team in disarray, cold-shouldering the new coach, him attempting to gain their respect, an antagonist (Jackie Shroff as businessman JK Sharma), on-field drama – all ensure that the second half feels like a breeze compared to the laboured first hald.

Young director Atlee and Kollywood star hero Thalapathy Vijay finally joined hands for their third outing together 'Bijil'. After two super hit films like 'Theri' and 'Mersal', the expectations have been very high in this movie.

Vijay's mesmerizing performance is the biggest plus point of this film. The way Vijay has pulled off such a challenging role is outstanding. The way he has showcased variations in both the roles he played is simply superb. Nayanthara looked extremely beautiful in the film.

When compared to 'Theri' and 'Mersal', the way young director Atlee treated 'Bijil' doesn't have any major difference. He showcased the character of Vijay in a really entertaining way. The solid story also helped the movie and his narration made the story even more relatable to the audience.

Michael is a talented football player who fails to make it big in career because of his father Rajappa's criminal background. But Rajappa always wishes Michael to reach heights. In order to fulfill his father's dream, Michael accepts to coach the women football team.

Vijay is definitely the show stealer for this movie. We can say that he has carried the entire movie on his shoulders and his powerful performance added more strength for the film. The way he blended with the character and portrayed it is really wonderful.

'Whistle' is technically a high-quality film. The outstanding performances by the cast are like the icing on the cake. Vijay and Atlee combination itself is the best part of the film. The movie starts off on an interesting note.

Atlee who is known for delivering mass entertainers that satisfy everyone has done it once again. He used the demi god image of Vijay to maximum potential and has given ample goosebumps moments for his fans to cherish.

This is completely a Vijay film and he carries the entire film on his shoulders with ease. He is at his usual best while delivering mass dialogues and bashing the rowdies with a swag of his own.

The film is rich on the technical front. GK Vishnu deserves special appreciation for his tremendous work with his lens. He showcased the film in magnificent lighting and visuals looked great onscreen.
