Blood Bath!

While it is true that the internecine killings that went on for decades cannot be compressed into a two and a half hour film. Yet, it must be said that Varma has failed to prioritise things. As a result, a lot of people might find the film too jarring. Varma clearly has failed to make a purposeful biopic and what more, despite his protestations, Varma hasn't changed much.

Vijayawada Raktha Charithra

The audiences for this movie belong to three categories. 1st one is knowledgeable ones. They know a lot about Vijayawada politics and journeys of Vangaveetis and Devinenis. They end up digging factual errors and tend to be highly opinionated. 2nd category is the type who are aware of it, but don’t know the details. This film engages such people thoroughly as they will be interested to know more about characters and flow of events (killings). 3rd category is the type who don’t have any political knowledge. They might find the film slow for the detailing Ram Gopal Varma has done. I belong to the second category. I found the film to be interesting and engaging because I like biopics and films based on real events. Normal audiences might find it have too much of bloodshed. Though he sounds daring and nonchalant while tweeting aggressively about anything on Twitter, Ram Gopal Varma tried to be politically correct while writing this film. On a while, if you interested in Bejawada politics, you might give Vangaveeti a try!!

A Series of Murders!

RGV-mark Taking, Camera Angels and Picturization of Scenes is quite impressive. He did succeed to present how Vijayawada used to be in the 80s to some extent. The way Varma ended the movie after the murder of Ranga by turning the camera towards Goddess Durga deserves a special mention. Overall, 'Vangaveeti' isn't one of the best films of RGV but definitely one of the better film from him.

Drama with Vengeance

Vangaveeti is surely RGV’s better films that have come out in the recent past. The film will be viewed from different perspectives as all those who knew the entire story will like it immensely. But for those, who do not know the back story can find this film as a routine revenge drama with some RGV mark. The film has a terrific buzz in Andhra Pradesh and will be watched quite heavily just for the curiosity factor. Finally, if you liked RGV’s Rakhta Charitra, you will also like Vangaveeti as it falls in the same category of the terrific gang war films which RGV showcases quite realistically.

Very Disappointing Documentary

Vangaveeti is just like an attempt to make a quick buck on the controversial subject. Barring a few episodes like Murali and Radha murders, there is nothing to excite or thrill the audience. It is yet another dud from the maverick director who made unforgettable crime dramas like Shiva, Gayam and Satya in the past. - See more at: http://www.gulte.com/moviereviews/589/Vangaveeti-Movie-Review#sthash.2wLXNhLl.dpuf

Parts greater than the whole

'Vangaveeti' is that rare RGV film which tastes delicious when the subtleties, detailing and the ambiance are enjoyed. The parts are greater than the whole. Some of RGV's obsessions do disappoint, but overall, it's a sincere piece.

No story, only Killings

It’s another half-baked film from RGV. It’s a fictional film for those who don’t know the story and people who know the story finds many faults. Overall, Vangaveeti isn’t a worth watching film in theaters.

RGV, Baap Of Biopics

Vangaveeti is based on the rowdyism of Vijayawada and rowdies living in Vijayawada at that time. This film begins with the voice over of Ram Gopal Varma which introduces the character Chalasani Venkata Ratnam and his power in Vijayawada. This half runs with gripping screenplay which engages audience to the core having songs which are not so good to hear. Whenever a new character enter the scene, RGV arrives with his voice to introduce him. Murders portrayed in this half are shown in a realistic way giving a lot of space for reactions. Interval comes at place where Devineni Gandhi is killed by Vangaveeti gang brutally which is well shot and engaging. Second half is as engaging as first half and is far more better half of the movie. Ram Gopal Varma’s voice over makes us clarified throughout the movie and is superb. Ram Gopal Varma once again proved that no one can match or come near to his vision while making biopics or real incidents. To sum up, Vangaveeti is a gripping movie from the mastermind RGV.

A history of violent streets

RGV is back. He has managed to create a film around a controversial subject without ruffling feathers. Remember, this was a time when arguments were actually settled using knives and guns. The second half drags a bit and there are a few holes in the script and the violence may shock. But Vangaveeti has connected. I watched the movie at a cinema in Vizag and I can report that like me, several others returned home, satisfied.

Fails to capture the real on reel

The way RGV handles the camera is worth appreciating. RGV knows where to put the camera and when exactly to put it there. But the ‘documentary’ gets little irksome when he narrates and rushes the story in frequent intervals. Though the VO was little witty but it doesn’t really add value to the narrative.

It’s another of those RGV’s movies

Everything that has to be said about the wave of Rowdyism that engulfed Vijayawada in the 70’s and 80’s has been said already. So what the movie does is try to reimagine some blood curdling details about the brutal nature of the gang-wars, and succeeds to some extent. But there is little more than that.
