Writer-director Ritesh Rana employs situational comedy in his attempt to tell a crime-thriller that is loaded with a twist or two.  And does he emerge with flying colours?  Largely, yes.

The use of pop culture references (including Megastar Chiranjeevi and his popular hits) is done in a non-cliched way.  What is better is the narration of a weirdly mawkish TV serial involving a husband and a wife.

'Mathu Vadalara' is a true-blue thriller-comedy.  Its characters are engagingly-written, its plot is driven by a range of emotions, and it keeps the suspense going.  The few flaws are minor and forgivable.

One of the biggest plus points of the film is the director and his taking. Ritesh Rana makes an impressive debut as his way of narrating a simple story line with enough entertainment is good. The suspense in the film has been generated quite well for the most part.

The director takes a lot of time to enter the main story. Too many scenes are wasted to establish the hero and his life. Also, once the suspense is revealed, the film becomes predictable.

On the whole, Mathu Vadalara is a film that has a decent premise and interesting suspense for the most part. Satya is the real star of the film and his comedy works in a big way.

A thriller in Telugu cinema is often left uncooked and leaves you with many unanswered questions, or worse, those answered in an illogical manner. But director Ritesh Rana's Mathu Vadalara is a film that will leave you satisfied.

Apart from the gripping plot, the hilarious gags in the film are spot-on. Yesu is well-written and Satya outperformed it with ease. He proved how hilarious he can be with a well-crafted character in this film.

Mathu Vadalara is definitely a worthy watch, it won't waste your time or energy. The film definitely stands out as one of the decent and gripping thrillers made this year.

Sri Simha, music director Keeravani’s younger son, in his debut as an actor is believable in the role of a delivery boy. But the one who steals the show is comedian Sathya. He brings the house down with his comic act.

The very beginning of the movie gives the impression that it is a film with a trendy setup, a new age drama. Without taking much time, the new director Ritesh Rana establishes an interesting setup of online delivery tricks.

Although the film almost entirely is set in a high-rise apartment complex, the production design and the camera work is quite effective.

‘Mathu Vadalara’ has a thin story which relies more on screenplay. The debutants’ team pleasantly surprises the audience with it’s racy screenplay , witty dialogues and fresh comedy in first half.

Director Ritesh Rana seems to be a chiranjeevi fan. Introduction , Interval and ending shots are on Megastar’s films. He subtly makes fun on Balakrishna and NTR Background score by Keeravani’s son KaalaBhairava is good.

‘ Mathu Vadalara ‘ is a new age film which works with targetted youth audience. Debutant director Ritesh Rana has shown his mettle in comedy and screenplay for most part of the film.

Simha, younger son of Keeravani seems to be very comfortable with the camera. He is not the usual 'Telugu cinema hero' and makes us believe that he is really going through hardships of life.

Ritesh Rana has woven the story around some viral videos that he had seen on the internet. It is a director's film with flashes of noticeable brilliance shown throughout. Ritesh has a terrific sense of humor that makes Mathu Vadalara all the more special.

Mathu Vadalara is a film that seems different right from the word go. The story is set beautifully from the point of view of people (courier boys) whom we don't care about.

Sri Simha does a good job for a debutant. He looks stiff and tensed in few scenes. Since his character also behaves like that we actually don’t know if he is acting in it or not :) He has a good voice too. Narensh Agastya is very good.

It’s a thriller that deals with drugs, hence the title. Debutant director Ritesh Rana comes up with a unique thriller. The screenplay of the film is very good and it doesn’t confuse you.

Mathu Vadalara is a risky movie to make. It deals with drugs and has some dark comedy in it. However, director Ritesh Rana has balanced it with some popular entertainment without losing the uniqueness of the film.
