Kalyan Ram has looked more like a stylish cop than an investigative journalist. However, he is neat in the role.

Nivetha Thomas gets meaty role in the second half and the talented actress once again proves her acting capabilities. Her performance in the second half is the highlight.

Director K V Guhan, who has lent cinematography to many hit movies like “Dookudu”, “Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu” and “Jalsa” has chosen to introduce a new concept “Lucid Dreaming” (one can go back to the past event for few minutes in lucid dream) but that has not been fully capitalized.

Thrillers are the latest fad in Tollywood as this genre gives makers to experiment with limited budget. 118 movie trailers gave enough hint about the genre, the audience waited to see if this film is actually something different than run-of-the-mill thrillers. 

118 is an intriguing, different and nearly engaging thriller with lucid dreaming concept as the backdrop.

On flipside, at times, in the name of clues, the director tried to insert too many elements or characters. In addition, the key part of the film flashback is a routine emotional one.

Kalyan Ram has done a nice performance in the role of investigative journalist Gautham. Nivetha Thomas has done a fantastic job in the role of Aadhya. Shalini Pandey is good as the girlfriend of Gautham.

The songs composed by Sekhar Chandra are good. He did superb work in composing the background score. The cinematography is superb and editing is good. 

118 is a film that runs around a murder or a violent incident in a suspenseful and thrilling way. Cinematographer KV Guhan who became a director with this movie has done fantastic work in terms of cinematography. The first half of the film takes up to set its premise up by introducing the characters.

The concept of the film is interesting and the director Guhan has narrated the film well for the most part. Kalyan Ram is neat as the investigative journalist.

Nivetha Thomas once again proves what a strong performer she is. Though she comes late in the proceedings, she does well with her emotional act. 

On the whole, 118 is a simple and neat thriller which has been made with no unnecessary deviations. It has decent moments in both the halves and the suspense is carried out neatly

Kalyan Ram who is known for doing commercial potboilers has done away with regular masala elements and went with the flow of the character. His performance is decent.

Being a cinematographer, KV Guhan had a clear vision of what to do. He didn't waste time on unnecessary elements and made sure to keep the narrative engaging. 

118 will definitely appeal to the viewers that love to watch thrillers. It has decent chances to do well in A centers and multiplexes. With so many mediocre films being offered lately, 118 is a film worth spending your time and money.

సినిమాకు మేజర్ ప్లస్ అంటే కాన్సెప్ట్ అనిచెప్పాలి. ఇక ఆ కాన్సెప్టు ని తెర మీదకు తీసుకురావడంలో గుహన్ చాలా వరకు సక్సెస్ అయ్యాడు. అలాగే సినిమాలో ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ చాలా ఇంట్రస్టింగ్ గా అనిపిస్తుంది. ముఖ్యంగా ఇంటర్వెల్ లో వచ్చే ట్విస్ట్ సెకండ్ హాఫ్ ఫై ఇంట్రస్ట్ ను తీసుకొస్తుంది.

మంచి కాన్సెప్ట్ ను సెలక్ట్ చేసుకున్న డైరెక్టర్ కే వి గుహన్ దానికి తగ్గట్లు గా కథను సిద్ధం చేసుకోలేకపోయాడు. 

సస్పెన్స్ థ్రిల్లర్ నేపథ్యంలో గుహన్ తెరకెక్కించిన ఈ 118లో కాన్సెప్ట్ , కళ్యాణ్ రామ్ , నివేదా థామస్ ల నటన హైలైట్ అవ్వగా సెకండ్ హాఫ్ లో వచ్చే నివేదా ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ ఎపిసోడ్ మైనస్ గా చెప్పొచ్చు. 

థ్రిల్లర్ సినిమాలకు అత్యంత కీలకమైన విషయం.. తర్వాత ఏం జరుగుతుంది అనే ఆసక్తి రేకెత్తించడం.. ఈ విషయంలో ‘118’ చాలా వరకు విజయవంతం అవుతుంది. సినిమాటోగ్రాఫర్ టర్న్డ్ డైరెక్టర్ కె.వి.గుహన్ అందరూ వెళ్లే దారిలో వెళ్లకుండా ఒక డిఫరెంట్ కాన్సెప్ట్ ట్రై చేశాడు.

ఇక అక్కడి నుంచి సస్పెన్స్ మొదలవుతుంది. హీరో తనకు వచ్చిన కథ తాలూకు మర్మాన్ని కనుగొనే క్రమంలో వచ్చే సన్నివేశాలు ఆసక్తికరంగా సాగుతాయి. ప్రథమార్ధం శరవేగంగా సాగిపోతుంది. ఇంటర్వెల్ మలుపు ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది.

టెక్నికల్ గా ‘118’ పర్ఫెక్ట్ అని చెప్పొచ్చు. థ్రిల్లర్ సినిమాలకు నేపథ్య సంగీతం అందించడంలో నేర్పరి అయిన శేఖర్ చంద్ర.. మరోసారి తన పనితనం చూపించాడు. సినిమాలో ఉన్న ఒక్క పాట బాగుంది. ప్రధానంగా బ్యాగ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ తో శేఖర్ స్కోర్ చేశాడు.
