Neither Hyper-active, Nor Dull!

Like what the promos have suggested, “Hyper” is mix of many recent mass movies with routine styled screenplay. It is like following the template style of screenplay of successful mass movies. Overall, Hyper is a regular mass movie that is neither quite dismissible nor it is very impressive. Okay movie with entertaining first half.

Made for the masses

The theatrical trailer of the film suggests that it’s about father-son bonding and there is a lot of action orientation. The film too follows suit. Plus points of the film are Ram’s energetic performance and the episodes involving the honesty of government officer. On the flip side, complete mass orientation and loud scenes between Ram and Rao Ramesh might limit the appeal of the film just to masses. On a whole, Hyper is a film made for the masses.

Ram's Obsession for Routine Stuff!

Santhosh Srinivas should be blamed for not being able to make the most out of the resources he have. Entertainment Values weren't up to the mark. In addition, Serving the routine stuff makes the film as just an ordinary product. For those who crave for popcorn entertainment, 'Hyper' could be pleasing to some extent. But, The rest could patiently wait for the next outing of the Energetic Boy.

Commercial & Message Film

On the whole, Hyper is a typical masala entertainer which has some entertaining moments. The interesting narration, Ram and Rao Ramesh’s confrontational scenes and a breezy first half are a huge assets. The film is bound to do well among the masses and the holiday season will surely help the film. If you ignore the slight glitches and predictable storyline during the second half, Hyper makes up for a decent watch this weekend.

Mass overdose

Hyper is yet another commercial film that is targeted at the B and C centers audience. It is not an easy task to write an engaging screenplay for a commercial film when every three out of five films released are made with similar template. Santosh Srinivas did well to create humor using father and son relationship.

Formula, escapism, message

'Hyper' is a formulaic film that follows the template of a few movies seen in recent past. The conflict point gives way to some non-serious ideas involving the media (the usual suspect). Thankfully, Ram and Rao Ramesh don't lose balance and emote appropriately (actually, they are allowed to emote appropriately).

Ram’s Film For Masses

As trailer and teaser has given insight that this movie is about a son who loves his father very much. This movie begins with the introduction of the same thing at various ages of Surya. This half goes on with comedy scenes and some boring scenes with some beautifully shot songs and well composed action sequences. Interval scene elevates the movie to another level and it’s another half starts with nice sequence between minister and Surya. Games between Minister and Surya are well written at places and they connect to the masses well. Rashi Khanna comes just for songs in the second half and has nothing to do with the flow of the movie. Director Santosh Srinivas who got a huge setback with Rabhasa has done okay job with the content and fine job with massy scenes. This movie works out well in masses. To summarise, Hyper is just another mass masala movie.

Old story with a novel thread

Ram, known for his comic and lover boy roles — is pushing the boundaries to move into mass action roles. He does a decent job trying to fit into those shoes. While his character — in truly ‘hyper’ mode — stands out, the script with power-packed dialogues and rhetoric also accentuates his performance.

Emotional core and an interesting message

The film is predictable at places and endearing at times. But on the whole, it feels like watching paint dry. Here’s a film which has its heart in the right place but the beats aren’t quite right.
