George Reddy

The entire university set up has been established well as the bygone era has been recreated superbly. Sandy leads from the front and is superb in the role of George Reddy. 

Post an interesting first half, the film’s tempo drops down completely. The film only becomes one-sided and that is of a revolutionary mode. There is no strong conflict point as a strong villain’s thread would have made matters even better.

On the whole, George Reddy is a realistic student drama that has some good thrills. The setup, performances, and BGM are huge assets of the film. On the flip side, a dull second half with simple proceedings, lack of good drama, and abrupt climax take down the film to an extent.

There is no dearth of 'goosebumps' moments in Jeevan Reddy's biopic of erstwhile student union leader George Reddy. With nothing out of place or blown out of proportion, Jeevan stays true to the incidents that rocked Andhra Pradesh's politics in the 60s and 70s.

The film begins when Muskaan (Muskaan Khubchandani), a research scholar based out of USA sets out on a mission to study and document George Reddy's life.

Although George Reddy starts on a slow note, the intensity gradually builds up and director Jeevan masterfully pulls you into the story and into the world of George Reddy. 

At one time or the other in their life, one would have heard about ‘George Reddy’, a student leader of Osmania University who inspired a generation. He still has a cult following in those who have left-leaning.

What George Reddy stood for? In real life, he fought against ABVP (in the film it is mentioned as ABCD), he questioned the inequalities, he also preached a left ideology.

‘George Reddy’ is the biopic of an iconic student leader, a cult figure. It has its moments. It also has terrific cinematography and background score but the inconsistency in narration is a big letdown. This is another biopic movie in Telugu that leaves us in mixed feelings.
 

The story begins with Muskaan, a student in the USA, coming to Hyderabad for her documentary film and interviewing various people who know about George Reddy, a student leader of the 1970s.

Sandeep Madhav fits perfectly in the role of George Reddy. He has got the perfect demeanour. Abhay Bethiganti as his friend gets a lengthy role.

This is a trend of biopics in Tollywood. ‘George Reddy’ has gained attention with its teaser.

The name of ‘George Reddy’ is pretty known to many, his life story has inspired many filmmakers to include scenes in their films: RGV’s ‘Shiva’, Tammareddy’s ‘Alajadi’ to Mani Ratnam’s ‘Yuva’ (Suriya’s character is inspired by George Reddy).
