Geetha Govindam

The actor who played the lazy boy next door in Pellichoopulu and the self-destructive Arjun in Arjun Reddy is transitioning into a star capable of massive box office pull.

Geetha Govindam takes its time to establish how the good hero is perceived as a pervert by Geetha (Rashmika Mandanna) during a bus journey. 

The rest of the film follows the journey of Vijay and Geetha. Since Vijay is the hero, he gets a chance to redeem himself.

 As easy as it sounds to make a rom-com, we've often seen filmmakers try and fail when it comes to successfully executing a "breezy entertainer" in Tollywood. 

Geetha Govindam has some good humour, fine music and a wonderful lead pair. But more importantly, it has a story, that despite its predictable nature, keeps the audience engaged and entertained.

Breezy Rom-Com

Basically, the film seems to be written for heroine’s character Geetha. She has solid characterization and Rashmika has not many dialogues to speak, she performs with her facial expressions. Both Vijay and Rashmika rise above the plot.

On the whole, “Geetha Govindam” is fun romantic drama that offers time-pass moments and makes a good watch.

One of the major plus points of the film is the hot and happening Vijay Deverakonda himself. His characterization and impressive comedy timing makes a world of difference to this film. 

After a very entertaining first half things get a bit slow in the later part with some routine break up scenes. The narration gets slow in the pre-climax with all the family scenes. 

On the whole, Geetha Govindam is a well made romantic comedy which lives up to all the hype and expectations. 

Vijay Devarakonda is nice in the role of Govind which is a pure contrast role for his previous Arjun Reddy. He is simple in his role and got it right. Rashmika Mandanna is simply awesome in her role as Geetha.

Songs composed by Gopi Sunder are nice and this album is one of the best in Gopi Sunder’s Telugu music career. 

Geetha Govindam is a love story of misunderstanding and innocence. An innocent guy tries falls for a girl who writes off him as a bad guy or womaniser or whatever the bad terms they can know.
