Set in the Telangana backdrop, Dorasaani deals with the story of a rich girl and an underdog. Raju (Anand Deverakonda) falls for his village princess Devaki (Shivathmika) and tries to woo her with his poems.

The entire film is narrated in an authentic manner and showcases the lifestyle of the people in Telangana during the early 80’s perfectly.

Director K.V.R. Mahendra’s story has nothing new in it as we have been seeing the rich-poor love stories in many films. But his groundwork of bringing the authentic flavor in the film is clearly visible on the screen.

Raju (Anand) is the son of a painter. He falls in love with the daughter of Dora in the first sight. She is called Chinna Dorasani (Shivathmika) by the villagers.

Anand Deverakonda suits the character although he looks very average. His voice and modulation is quite identical to his brother Vijay Deverakonda. His performance is just okay.

KVR Mahendra's story has an interesting setting, but that doesn't make this routine love story engaging. The slow moving screenplay make this predictable story a tedious watch.

As a Dorasaani, debutante Shivathmika is good. She has very expressive eyes and her performance is appreciable. She has also got right diction mostly.

The film has excellent songs. Prasanth Vihari has not only composed melodious songs but also has recreated the mood. “Ningilona Palapunta” and “Kalavaramye” are pick of the lot.

“Dorasaani” that marks the debut of Vijay Deverakonda’s brother Anand Deverakonda and Rajasekhar’s daughter Shivathmika tells the love story of a rich girl who lives in a fortress and a poor youngster and her faucal father who opposes their love for honour.

Anand Deverakonda being a debutant, looks nervous mostly and delivers a fumbling, middling performance with his terrified and mostly uncomfortable performance.

Prashanth Vihari delivers a soothing background score and of his songs, Kallalo Kalavaramai,

Debutant KVR Mahendra has selected a very conventional and beaten to death plot of the love story of a rich girl and a poor guy and placing their struggles in a period setup.

Set against a period backdrop, the movie tells a tale of love between Raju (Anand) and Dorasani (Shivatmika). What problems did they face? How social conditions those days affected them? How did the story unfold in the end? Forms the story of the movie.

Director KVR Mahendra has prepared an interesting storyline for this film and also executed it in a decent way.

It's definitely not easy to make period dramas but we can give the enter credit to director KVR Mahendra for making us see the 80s time period. The movie starts off on an interesting note.
