To loot big bucks from a noted politician Gyanmurthy (Satyaraj), Vikky (Karthi) a thief, from Goa comes to Satyaraj’s home in his disguise as his son.

It’s not that the second half of the film is bad but the film’s tempo drops during the last 20 minutes. Karthi’s look in the thief’s role is a bit wired and could have been presented in a better way.

On the whole, Donga is an interesting family thriller that keeps the audience engaged util the pre-climax of the film. Karthi’s makeover and his combination scenes with Jothika have nice emotions.

If you've watched Tamil cinema, Jeethu Joseph's name will resonate when you think of both engaging thrillers and family entertainers. A common interesting aspect in his films is the way he merges nail-biting sequences with family moments.

Who tries to finish Vicky off, will he survive? What if the real Saravanan comes home and where was he all these years?

Donga manages to entertain with ample suspense and family moments. It has its moments which keep you guessing till the end. There's an interesting twist in the first half and another appealing one in the climax.

Karthi is superb in Donga, which offers him scope to enact various gamut of expressions and emotions. The brother-sister angle, for starters, is a fresh angle that not many heroes get to do these days.

The name Jeethu Joseph might not click immediately with many, but when we say Drishyam – everyone will instantly recognize. Jeethu is the one who brought Drishyam to life.

Govind Vasantha, who shot to fame with 96, provides the music. The standalone song lacks impact. The background score is better. The cinematography is decent.

Vicky (Karthi) is a trickster and a tourist guide. Murthy (Satyaraj) takes him to his home and introduces Vicky as his son who left the home 15 years back. Vicky slowly gains the acceptance of his elder sister Parvathy (Jyothika) and the rest of the family members.

Karthi is in full form and he carries the film on his shoulders. He impresses you big time and his scenes with Jyothika came out really well. Jyothika had less to do in this film but she did a decent job in the space given to her.

The film was backed by a good technical output. Cinematography by RD Rajesekhar is superb as he supported the director's vision completely through his lens rather than going extravagant.
